A Garage Storage Solution That Actually Works
Every once in a while, someone really comes up with a good idea that is practical and functional. Things like this makes life simpler for me, and when I find something that really works well, I like to pass that information along to other people.
One such product that I hit upon recently has been of tremendous help to me in tackling one of the worst problems, that of storage at home. If you are like me, my garage seems to be the catchall area for everything and anything. Somehow or the other, items like shovels, hoses, rakes and oil cans etc. seem to get dumped there without anybody’s knowing it. Of course, metal shelves are the answer here. Of course, I have shelves over there, but they seem to be more of obstructionists and come on the way because of the limited available space, making it difficult to move the car.
After installing these shelves in my garage, I was so impressed with how well these worked; I ordered another set for my enclosed motorcycle trailer. You see, the limitation with the trailer shelves is that they come on the way while you load or unload something. These shelves allow me to unload the motorcycle, drop the shelves down and I get the storage space when needed. It keeps the clutter off the floor of the trailer and that bother of moving things around.

IQ Test - Measuring Your Intelligence
Almost everyone has heard about IQ tests. They’re in lots of magazines, especially women’s magazines. Doing a web search will also find as many as you like. You’ll get this page of questions filling your screen and you’ve got to select your answer online quickly. Then you submit the test and before you can count to ten, you get your results - a two or three digit number.
But what exactly is an IQ test, anyway? And what does the score mean? IQ is the ‘Intelligence Quotient’, a measure of how smart you are compared to the whole population. It may be used to see if you are likely to do well in some proffessions or in academic studies.
The whole idea of the IQ test is to measure the potential of your brains using problems posed to you on paper. Written problem solving is the core idea of IQ tests. The raw test scores are then compared to other persons. It’s one of the standard methods to estimate human intelligence.
Taken over the whole population the average IQ score is 100. If your score is higher than 100 you are more intelligent than average. Any score less than 100 indicates your intelligence level doesn’t match up to the average John Doe.
Positive sides of the IQ test
- Hiring E.g. you like to hire someone for a position. You could get a better understanding of the applicant’s intelligence by conducting an IQ test. The test could be on logical, linguistic and spatial intelligence. This should be guided by the requirements for the type of work offered. A high score would indicate the candidate is well suited for the position. That way some candidates could be eliminated since they would most likely not be able to make the job.
- Academic admission On top of the SAT and other tests IQ tests to judge their intelligence. This would be useful if there are too few places on the course to accommodate everyone who wants to study. You could pick the cream of the crop from the high IQ scorers and send rejection slips to those who didn’t make the grade.
Disadvantages of the IQ Test
- IQ tests are far from infallible though Plenty of folks who have taken an IQ test as part of the interview process didn’t do so well at work. They didn’t rise high enough or fast enough up the corporate ladder.
- Not the most important success factor College students who initially showed promising scores on their IQ test ended up not being so hot when they sat their term papers. Studies have found out that a student’s self-discipline is a better gauge of how well they’ll do at college or high school. Relying only on smartness is not enough you must put whatever IQ you have to work to do really well. Many high IQ scorers have been overtaken by so-called ‘weaker’ minds with much lower IQ.

Many abilites are not measured by IQ testsFor example IQ tests can’t measure how well you’ll do as a leader. Another area not covered is your emotional intelligence, also called EQ, how good you are at handling other people and relationships. There is also the theory of multiple intelligences, that defines 8 different aspects of intelligence that you may have to varying degrees. So your IQ score may not be the only defining factor in your overall intelligence.
